Our Mission
We empower less fortunate children in Bangladesh through community programs to elevate their quality of life and education while breaking down global cultural barriers.
Our Story
BDCF, a student-run nonprofit organization, was created in 2020 by high school students in the New York City Metropolitan area. Since then, we have grown to over 315 high school and undergraduate volunteers, in 4 different countries. Our Relocation Relief Schools (RRS), which are 3-year temporary formal schools in slum regions of Bangladesh, now has over 2,000 children enrolled. We conduct weekly service deliveries to children and their families with blankets, educational materials, and meals with the assistance of our global volunteers. Recently, we have launched our Cross-Culture Pen-Pal Program, which is an initiative meant to cultivate global friendships between children in Bangladesh and the outside world. BDCF is excited to continue expanding our programs to further meet the needs of Bangladesh's most vulnerable population through supporters like you.

September 2020
Be Desi Children's Foundation was established in New York City.
December 2020
Through lobbying and project grants, $6,700 was raised. BDCF provided 2,300 children with school bags filled with educational materials created by our student volunteers in the United States, school supplies such as notebooks, crayons, and pencils, and provided each child's family with a 20lb bag of Basmati rice to take home with them.
March 2021
Be Desi Children's Foundation was awarded a grant from The Edward M. Kennedy Center (EMK Center), in accordance with the U.S. Mission to Bangladesh Integrated Country Strategy to help develop strong proposals that align with the U.S. government's priorities in Bangladesh.
June 2021
BDCF established the first Relocation Relief Schools (RRS) in the slum region of Mirpur, Dhaka. The next two were established in Teknaf Upazilas, at the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site and in a camp in Ukhiya. The locations of our schools are specific to where we have pinpointed the greatest climate migrations after natural disaster displacements. We have over 2,000 children currently enrolled, ages 5-17.
Present
BDCF has partnered with Save the Children and UNICEF Bangladesh to expand our school systems and service deliveries. We are committed to breaking down cultural barriers through immersive internships, volunteer opportunities, and cross-culture friendship programs for students across the globe.
